The close of Matthew’s Gospel depicts Jesus issuing a call upon his disciples. After following him for three years, witnessing his miracles, absorbing his teachings, and worshipping his resurrected body, they are to go and make more disciples.
Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age. — Matthew 28:19-20
In the first chapter of Acts, Jesus declares that the Holy Spirit brings the power of God to take this call to cities, to nations, to the entire world.
But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth. — Acts 1:8
Challenged by doubt, afflicted by imprisonment, threatened with death, and persecuted by governments, Christ’s followers have heeded the call to proclaim the gospel to the ends of the earth. As followers of Christ, we are presented with the glorious task of making his name known. We are being transformed inwardly by the Spirit that gives us the power to pursue the renewal of all things.
It is my hope and prayer that the Spirit stirs in the hearts of our youth the desire to proclaim the gospel; in word and deed, in their families, in their schools, in their city, and in this world. While many in our culture view the teen years as a stage of aimless wandering, I retain the belief that these years are integral for developing our children into the adults they will become. It is my goal in the ministry to provide a variety of experiences that evidence the truth of the Scriptures and witness to the mighty work our Lord is doing in this fallen world.
In the summer of 2015, Camelback Youth will embark on two journeys, challenging our students to take the commission of Christ seriously and proclaim the gospel to the world. If you’re a parent and have a child in grades 6-12, please join us for a meeting Sunday October 26th at 10:30am in Room 209. I will be taking a short time to introduce the mission trips we will be taking in July 2015.
If you’re not a parent, please begin praying for our youth; our youth missions teams will have financial, spiritual, and emotional responsibilities testing their faith in the coming months. May God bless the fulfillment of his call at Camelback.

I hope to be a light of wisdom and hope as they traverse the many obstacles in between childhood and adulthood." “Let no one despise you for your youth, but set the believers an example in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith, in purity.” – I Timothy 4:12
