The Word encourages us to take care of the widows and orphans (James 1:27). Osborn Health and Rehab is one of the best places to love these dear people, ages 18-105, providing them a context for understanding how much God loves them in the person of Jesus Christ, and helping them know that they are not abandoned by family or friends.
Sound like something you’d like to do?
If you were to go visit the residents at Osborn H&R, what would you do? We visit, listen, learn about their lives — talk about the work they’ve done, the sports they’ve played, the music they like, the people who have had the most influence on them. We laugh and find things in common. And – perhaps just as importantly as emotional support – we provide physical touch when appropriate, such as holding hands and giving hugs, and we often pray with them.
Here’s what to expect: On the first and third Sunday’s of each month, from 2 pm – 4 pm, people from CBC provide a worship service for the residents. Newcomers are paired with a leader from CBC to invite residents to the worship service held in the grand room. At 2:30, the service begins: it’s much like CBC’s own worship service with familiar hymns, scripture reading, the Apostles Creed, a short message followed by Q&A, special music and prayer with the residents in small groups.
If you would like to participate, contact David Haneke, email@example.com. Osborn H&R is at 3333 N. Civic Center Dr. in Scottsdale.
