Leonard Valencia

Camelback Bible Church has been home my wife Tammie and I for over 30 years. In fact, we met in youth ministry at CBC, began dating, and eventually married. During the last 30 years, I have served in every music ministry from vocal to handbell, children to adults.

I hold a degree in business with an emphasis in economics and studied music extensively under Dr. Douglas McEwen at Arizona State University and Dr. Harvey K. Smith, the legendary Phoenix Boys Choir director. While in college I had lead roles in many light operas as well as the role of Sky Masterson in “Guys and Dolls” and Melchior in “Amahl and the Night Visitors.” Additionally, I had numerous bass/baritone solos in “Messiah” and many Bach motets.

It is my great privilege to have a leadership role in our music ministries for children here at CBC. We seek to train up the next generation of worship leaders, giving them the musical tools as well as a worshipful heart prepared to offer praise to the creator of music…the creator of all! Additionally, we seek to reach our community through arts education via the Camelback School for the Arts, offering beginning instruction in piano, strings, voice, dance, and art in an after-school program.

Then he appointed some of the Levites as ministers before the ark of the Lord, to invoke, to thank, and to praise the Lord, the God of Israel. – I Chronicles 16:4
