My wife, Lisa, and I are so happy to be part of the Camelback family.
I spent my early years in France as a missionary kid. My parents taught me about Jesus from the earliest I remember, and I began to follow Jesus as a boy.
We moved to Deerfield, IL while I was in grade school, so I grew up in the Chicago suburbs (Go Cubs! Da Bears!). I graduated from Wheaton College in 1988 and went on to Trinity Evangelical Divinity School for a M.Div. and eventually a Ph.D. (New Testament). Our family spent a memorable year at Tyndale House, Cambridge, where I worked on my dissertation.
I have been a pastor for almost 30 years, most recently at Tulsa Bible Church. I also served as Senior Pastor of First Evangelical Free Church in Maplewood, MN, and was on staff at College Church in Wheaton (IL) for ten years.
Lisa and I met when I was the Singles Pastor at College Church—that’s a fun story for another time! God has blessed us with four wonderful children: Claire, Julia, Sarah, and Andrew.
Our family enjoys hiking, playing cards, and our two cats, Sophie and Percy. I enjoy music, cycling, walking, and reading everything from theology to Louis L’Amour. And I am a coffee guy—my Bialetti Moka travels with me.
I love the church. I love opening God’s Word with God’s people. I love this beautiful family that crosses all boundaries. I love watching the Holy Spirit lead us out with the gospel. It is a joy to serve as Senior Pastor of Camelback Bible Church.
