Dismayed by the breakdown of our society, where do we look for light? Not to things powerless against the darkness, such as prosperity and pleasure. We need something brighter.
The book of Revelation points us to just such a Light. I am amazed by the relevance of this biblical book, especially for a nation stumbling through a troubling election cycle. The apostle John received a vision of heaven and wrote it down for us, and it is a vision that enables us to understand the contemporary world and find comfort in a God who can turn everything, even disappointing trends, to his purposes.
Even better good news: it won’t be long until ‘the kingdom of the world has become the kingdom of our Lord and of his Christ, and he shall reign forever and ever’ (Revelation 11:15).
