Preparation is vital to so many things that we do. It’s essential for anyone who participates in athletic events. The pitcher who studies his opponent and who spends many hours practicing the different pitches in his/her repertoire will likely be more effective. It’s essential for academics. The student who carefully studies for a quiz or even for their SAT is more likely to get a better grade / a higher score. It’s essential to business. The salesmen who thinks through his/her presentation in light of the needs of his client will likely make a better impression.
Preparation is important for all the activities of our life, but it is especially important that we be prepared for life – …that we be prepared to “really live.” That’s what childhood is all about – a time of preparation to learn how to live, and it is to this preparation that Camelback Bible Church Children’s Ministries is especially dedicated. We want to partner with parents to prepare their children for living in this world as children of God. We believe we cannot afford to neglect this time of preparation for our children and seek to diligently train them in the truth of God’s Word.
One ministry that is at the heart of our approach is the LOGOS Kids Club. Its stated purpose is “to impart to children the truth of God’s Word so that they will come to reverence the Almighty God through Christ as Savior and Lord and to develop a deep concern for the lost and an abiding love for God’s people – all to the glory of God.”
As stated, our heart is to introduce our 1st – 6th graders to God’s truth that will help them to understand their world from God’s perspective. Consider the following questions (part of this year’s curriculum). How might you answer these queries?
- What is God like?
- Why did God create man?
- Why is God’s Word important?
- Did God create sinful people?
- How has sin affected us?
- Why can Jesus save us from sin and its penalty?
- What is the duty of each member of the church?
- How can I be right with God?
Having answers to questions like these is absolutely essential preparation for living in this fallen world. Children who have been exposed to and embraced biblical answers to these questions will be far and away more prepared to “really live.” That’s why each fall we urge parents to encourage their children to participate in LOGOS Kids Club, our Wednesday night ministry. This is the only ministry we offer that answers these questions in a systematic way. Our other ministry, Sunday Morning Discipleship, has its own unique contribution to our children’s preparation for life (see our website). Only LOGOS Kids Club provides for our children a foundation in the basics of the faith, answering so many important questions.
Besides providing this great foundation for children, LOGOS also provides an opportunity for parents to teach their children to reach out for Christ. Over the years our families have had best success in encouraging their children to invite friends to the midweek ministry. It is important that children develop this “outward” look when they are young.
LOGOS Kids Club begins Wednesday, August 26. Registration starts at 6:30 p.m. in the courtyard. Parents and grandparents, include LOGOS this year in your efforts to prepare your children.
It’s a joy partnering with you in the greatest work on earth!
