The questions parents can have are myriad. They include: What is my responsibility as a parent regarding my child’s spiritual development? What does God expect of me? How do I teach my child about God? Are there recommended materials? Why doesn’t my child listen to me when I ask him to do something? How should I handle disobedience? Should I spank or is that an outdated method developed in less civilized times? Are there other means or methods that I can use to steer my child in the way of God? What am I aiming at anyway? Am I just trying to keep my child out of danger or do I have a higher calling? What is my church family’s role? How do I maximize the contribution the church body can make?
To help parents answer these questions and others, Camelback Bible Church’s Children’s Ministry offers two classes: Parenting Foundations I & II. These classes are designed to provide answers to the above questions and equip parents for a Christ-honoring fulfillment of their God-given role.
Parenting Foundations I delves into:
– The calling of parents
– Faith nurture in the home: the concept of family worship
– Faith nurture in the church
– Wisdom for parents of toddlers
– Preparation for Child Dedication
Parenting Foundations II explores:
– Biblical Foundations: Family Government, Authority and the Nature of the Child
– Getting to the heart of behavior
– Key Training objectives for the early years
– Faith nurturing methodologies and strategies
– Home resources for Faith nurture
– Faith nurture in the church: Preschool years
A parent who recently completed Parenting Foundations II wrote: “As parents of a toddler and a baby, my wife and I agree: the Parenting Foundations II class was an invaluable use of our time. I walked away from the class with a more informed view of my job as a parent; healthy long term goals for my daughters’ growth; and practical ideas we were able to start using at home immediately. I feel more confident and equipped to parent my kids in a healthy way that’s in line with God’s Word. We learned how to give instructions to our toddler in a more effective way. (We didn’t even realize we were being vague to her before!) When we deal with behavior problems at home, I feel more capable of building up and training my toddler, instead of just making her feel bad for doing wrong. We highly recommend the class.”
PARENTING FOUNDATIONS I is offered Sundays, January 15, 22, & 29, 9:00 am or 11:00 am (time determined by participants), Learn more and sign up!
PARENTING FOUNDATIONS II will be offered again in the Fall. Stay tuned for dates!
