Global Missions

We are called to serve in our world as Christ served in his. Our family is on a mission for the glory of God, extending the love of Christ to all peoples, all over the earth. Some members of our family spread the love of Jesus while actively serving in other countries. Others are an essential part of supporting outreach abroad while working from bases in our own country. Many others of us are engaged in the financial and prayer support of these members of our extended family, or reaching out to groups of people near their own homes.

THE AMERICAS

Isaias & Virginia Colop-Xec

Serving with Commission to Every Nation in Guatemala

Donate Online

The Colop-Xec’s work among the Quiche people of southwestern Guatemala. The Quiches are the largest (numbering two million people) of the 22 indigenous tribes of Mayan descent in Guatemala. Isaias is from the Quiche tribe. There are many churches among the Quiches, but they are making very little impact in the nation. There is much legalism within the church and many mix traditional Mayan beliefs and practices with Christianity. For this reason, the Colop-Xec’s are working to teach and train church leaders so that their churches will become beacons of light in a dark place. They are very encouraged to see Quiches becoming true servants of God. This is the grace of God working in people’s lives.

In 1998, François accepted the call to SEMBEQ (Séminaire Baptiste Evangélique au Québec), which trains pastors and lay people within the local church setting. They are trained in the areas of theology, evangelism, discipling, and leadership. He equips local Churches, pastors, and leaders to train new workers so that each pastor has his own “Timothy”. He also encourages Churches to establish a training plan in order to establish the next generation of workers and missionaries. Finally, he promotes the vision of training leaders, mainly with regard to their character, attitude, and skills in order to spread the gospel of Christ in Quebec and the French-speaking world.
