A Testimony of God’s Work
Tell us a little about yourself.
I am a lover of Jesus, my husband, my children, my family, my church, and friends. I am a stay at home mom, homeschooling the older children. I enjoy cooking, baking, running, serving at the church, and others around me.
Why did you start going to Camelback?
I started attending CBC in the late 1990’s. I was previously attending another local church body and at the time meeting with another older woman who was at Camelback. She invested countless hours into my life helping me understand who God is, what His Word says, how I can know if I love him, what He expects of me, what it really means to be a believer.
I grew more and more hungry for God’s Word and also wanted to be at a church that was centered on solid biblical teaching. It seemed only natural for me to begin attending Camelback at that time. This was a pivotal point in my life as God used this period to really make some huge changes in my heart. He is so good! I have been attending CBC ever since and it is truly my family. I met my husband at a bible study at Camelback and we have developed deep roots and love being a part of all that God is doing.
How has God been working in your life?
Most recently God has been working in my life teaching me to only rely on His word for everything. I can’t go based on feelings or emotions. Raising a family can be challenging but looking to Christ for everything is the only way to find true joy in the difficult times. Teaching and loving my children at home has taught me so much about the true love of Christ. He was selfless and gave of himself, while we were sinners! So I want to follow his example and do the same for my children. They (as am I) are in desperate need of the gospel and I have the privilege of sharing it with them every day as we play, learn, and “do life.”
How are you involved at Camelback?
I am involved in a few areas, but the two I will highlight are Small Group and Meals For New Moms. Mark (my husband) leads a small group with several couples. It has been such a tremendous blessing as we meet together, dig into God’s word, and encourage each other to look to Christ. We have shared major life struggles and grown closer as fellow believers. We have been able to serve the community together, which has been wonderful as well.
The other area I am involved in is the Meals for New Moms ministry. I have been privileged to come along side many new moms over the years and coordinate meals for them after their baby has been born or adopted. Having a new baby join the family can be a stressful time and when meals are brought in; it can very much ease the transition. I have met so many sisters in Christ in this way. Also there are times when we reach out and arrange meals for families outside the Body who may need help with meals. This is a very tangible way to show the love of Christ to people who do not have a church family. God has blessed this ministry and I am thankful for the many people who are faithful to serve others with their cooking.
“So, then, it depends not on human will or exertion, but on God, who has mercy.”
– Romans 9:16
